Huni Kuin Beaded Necklace

Huni Kuin means "true people". They are also called Kaxinawá, name that were originate after the contact with non-indigenous people. They habitate the regions of Acre (Brazil) and Peru. They belong to the most numerous indigenous group of Acre. The women specialises in the cotton art, mastering the whole process from the planting to the weaving. They also craft beaded glass jewellery that are known for its intense colours and contrasts. Their kenes (graphisms) are passed generation after generation and were taught by the boa, this cosmologic being that brings force and protection.
